Send Synced Folders to a Access group

Choose an access group once for a synced folder and use that choice for future files from the same folder.

Owners and admins in a business workspace can set folder access group rules. Personal workspaces do not use this control.

Choose where new files from a synced folder belong. The saved rule applies to future syncs from that folder on that connection, so you do not have to repeat the same filing decision for each new file.

1

Open your synced folder

Open Add, choose Sync from an app, and select the connection containing your folder.

2

Choose Set access

On the synced folder, select Set access and choose the destination. If a rule already exists, select the displayed access group name to change it. Your choice saves immediately.

3

Check the saved destination

The folder now displays its access group. New files discovered under this saved folder selection use that destination on future syncs. Setting a rule does not bulk-move documents already in your Library. Assigning Access to files in a Library folder is a separate, one-time edit and does not create this sync rule.

When you move a synced document to an access group in the Library, you may see: “Apply to everything synced from this folder going forward?” Choose Yes to save a folder rule, or Just this doc to keep the change limited to that document. This follow-up appears when the source folder is known and does not already have a rule.

Pro Tip: Choose a folder destination that fits all the new files you expect there. If only one document belongs elsewhere, use Just this doc. Files without a resolved access group may still need an admin to assign them from Pending Review.

Review the next sync in your Library and check the new documents' access groups. You can return to the folder's access group control when future files should go somewhere else.
