Recording Voice Notes

Capture thoughts, meetings, and conversations as audio documents. Voice notes are transcribed automatically and become searchable in your knowledge base.

Voice notes let you record audio directly in the app. When you stop recording, the audio is transcribed and saved as a document. You can search the transcript, and Lumen can reference it just like any other document.

Pro Tip: Voice notes are different from voice-to-text dictation. Dictation (available via the Voice button in the Write tab toolbar) converts speech to text inline. Voice notes save the actual audio file as a document.

Recording steps

Navigate to Add Content and select the Voice tab.

Recording starts automatically after a brief delay. You will see the waveform visualizer and a timer counting up.

Tap the stop button (square icon) when finished. The audio will be sent for transcription.

After recording, you will see a review card with:

Review card contents

A title (auto-generated with the date and time, editable).

A preview of the transcript. If transcription was not available, the audio will still be saved.

A department selector (for business and internal organizations).

Save to add the voice note to your knowledge base, or Discard to start over.

Voice notes appear in your document library with an audio icon. You can filter by the "Audio" type in the library filter. The transcript text is fully searchable, so you can find voice notes by what was said.

Recordings have a maximum duration of 10 minutes. A warning appears at 8 minutes. Recordings that exceed 25 MB in file size cannot be saved. At typical recording quality, 10 minutes produces roughly 7.5 MB.
